About Us
Mission Statement
Vickie Lamb, the figure behind the scenes at WyndChyme Press and Double Barrel Kennel, is committed to promoting mutually rewarding relationships between owners and their dogs. The key to achieving this goal is through communication that effectively builds bonds on the important foundations of respect and love. With emphasis in her writing on overall responsibility for fairness in training as well as quality mental and physical care, Vickie is working to continually improve all aspects of living with, training and hunting with dogs. In addition, she promotes the pursuit of fulfilling outdoor experiences.
Unique to Vickie is her accessibility and willingness to help anyone that sincerely wants to learn about training and issues regarding dog wellness and health. She makes her years of experience available to owners and their dogs. No question is too minor.
Problems are an area where Vickie can analyze the situation and put forth cause and effect along with workable solutions. Causes, or roots of problems, are at the foundation of long-lasting solutions instead of cures-for-the-moment. Vickie explains the "what" and "why" of her approaches to training and to problems in an easily understood language.
Extensive dog training options by Vickie are available; also often for sale from Double Barrel Kennel are started, intermediate and fully trained hunting dogs, primarily retrievers and coonhounds. Puppies are occasionally offered for sale.
Vickie writes for The Retriever Journal, Retriever News, Just Labs, Retrievers Online, Hunting Retriever, American Cooner, Full Cry, Coonhound Bloodlines, and other magazines. She was a contributor to the Encyclopedia of North American Sporting Dogs, and has also authored Dynamics of Hound Training, Volume I-Basics and Foundation, (now in a revised third printing) and The Ultimate Hunting Dog Reference Book. Additional books are in the works, including two volumes on the methods and life of the late Rex Carr, arguably this country's most innovative influence to modern retriever training, as well as another hound volume.
Vickie and her dogs have been seen on WGN, ESPN, ESPN2, and OLN/Versus, in Gun Dog Magazine, NRA Women's Outlook, and just recently in American Hunter.
